New House in the Neighborhood
Monday, November 23rd, 2009
Our house was built 229 years before this one, which is going up next to us. Originally, back in the 18th century, there was 350 acres with our house. Now it’s down to seven. The folks that owned the house 2 or 3 families ago held onto about a hundred acres when they sold it, then several years ago cut the land up into 10 acres parcels and started selling them. The lot next to us was the last one to get a house (probably the neighbors). The people building this house didn’t buy the lot originally. It was another couple who clear cut it because the wife didn’t like trees. So my wife put a curse on the lot (no shit) and it wouldn’t perk. So now this new family bought it, my wife removed the curse (wasn’t their fault the trees are gone) and they found a place that perked. Makes me think I need to be a lot more careful what I say to my wife.
