A Little Light Reading
Thursday, September 24th, 2009
We took a road trip to Charlottesville last Saturday. It’s only 70 miles away, so it’s an easy drive, plus it’s home to one of my favorite restaurants, Tastings, with 150 wines by the glass, so that’s usually the first stop for lunch. Tastings is just around the corner from the town mall which is populated with galleries, bookstores, small shops, restaurants and outdoor cafes.
Our first stop after lunch was the Dominion Bookstore where mom and son were sharing a story. I read a lot; I mean a lot. I’ve always got a book or two I’m reading. I’ve been known to read at stop lights. No matter what’s going on in my life I can always find comfort in a book. One of my best childhood memories is lying on my back one summer evening, on the front seat of my mothers late 50’s green station wagon, using the car’s interior light to read a book. I imagine this is how it started, leaning against my mother while she read me a story
