Bartenders I Met 5

It’s been a while since I posted a bartender to the “Bartenders I Met” series which I started last April. I’m not sure whether I drink less or the bartenders aren’t as interesting, but Saturday I met a bartender who had to be added to the series. I noticed the tatoos on her fingers and asked if her name was Pip (I missed the e…easy to do). Seemed like a logical question, though logical is a little slippery after a few glasses of wine. Anyway, she said her name was Ashleigh, so I asked about the tats.

Turns out it’s the name of her dogs, Apple and Pie. Very cool. So the question is, did she get the dogs and name them because she had 8 fingers (thumbs not included) or had she already named them and lucked out that she had 8 fingers (thumbs not included)?

Factory Maze

factory

I was shooting factory workers in Kentucky a couple of months ago. The factory was big, open, fluorescent lit…your typical modern factory, all effeciency… no character. We were moving from one section to another when we walked through a door into a real factory. No workers, but plenty of character and atmosphere. This is how a factory should look.

Last Day…Sort Of

Mary at Blue Point
Saturday was supposed to be our last day on the Outerbanks. Honestly. Our intention really was to leave, but we decided to have lunch at Blue Point with our friends before the three hour drive back. Apparently beer and wine has the ability to negate good intentions and we decided to stay an extra night. So we turned around and drove back to the house for one more night.
Stella at Tortuga Lies
Since we had already packed up what food was left we went to a little local resaurant called Tortugas Lie for dinner. I’m not sure what it means, but from what I remember, the beer was good and the food excellent.

New Years 2009…Poker and Naps

New Years Poker
New Years day 2009…we’re with two other couples and three dogs in a beach house on the outerbanks of NC. Temperature is in the 30’s, not exactly beach weather, so we played poker, drank bloody marys and watched football. This is what’s left of my stack.
New Years Nap
While some of us played poker, others napped. Not a bad way to spend New Years day.
