I was a little early for a morning meeting last week and the doors were locked so  I waited on the landing out front. There is a restaurant next door and they had stacked these aluminum chairs on the landing.

Christmas Berries

We have a holly tree behind the barn that is loaded with berries. All the hollys seem to be loaded this year, which is supposed to mean a long, cold winter. The up side is they make for nice Christmas decorations. A bowl full of water, a few candles and some holly and you have a center piece for the Christmas eve dinner table.

And it looks just as good for Christmas breakfast.

UPDATE: Oops! My wife says these are Nandina berries, which come from bushes , not trees. What do I know. She says the nandina bushes are loaded too, so I guess it’s really going to be a cold winter.

Merk for Mayor
I’ve had a bit of blog block for the last month. It must be the change to cold weather that does it because I came down with it this time last year as well. The only way out is to force myself to shoot, good or bad, until it goes away.

I was on my way to a meeting yesterday when I saw this in a downtown apartment window. No doubt, the first campaign sign of the 2025 election.

I’ll try and do better in the coming year. Merry Christmas.

Nekkid Men From the Center of the Universe II

july
This is July from the “Nekkid Men from the Center of the Universe” calendar. This definitly ranks in my top 5 best all time locations…tons of atmosphere, including a vintage 1940s era bra (see the Oct. 10 post). The calendar has stirred up a bit of controversy in town, to say the least. To each his own, I suppose. But as they say, all publicity is good publicity, (apparently the cliche filter isn’t working this morning) because the calendar has raised over $11,000 so far for charity. If you’d like to help out a good cause, you can either make your way to Ashland and buy a calendar, or order one here.
