Wall of Hay

This is my collection of weedeaters which I proudly display on the barn wall. I think I collect them in the hopes that some day I will actually get around to repairing them. The one in the middle with the strap is a Stihl. It was the first one and I ran the bejeezes out of it for 10 years until the lack of maintenance finally did it in. The yellow one on the left is a Yardman I bought at Walmart. It lasted 2 weeks. Lesson learned. Between the two is an electric one that may have been an attempt at enviromental consciousness. That lasted until I realized what a pain in the ass an electric weedeater is. The latest one is the Stihl on the right and next to that is the beginnings of my plunger collection.

I thought this was a nice little pastoral scene. We planted a garden this year and my wife takes a break from weeding under this apple tree. I built the picket fence last month. I don’t think it really keeps anything out, maybe a lazy rabbit, but it looks nice around the garden.

I finally know the purpose of bridesmaids.

Yesterday my neighbor’s son, Ian married the mayor’s daughter, Megan. It rained most of the day, but as good fortune would have it, stopped shortly before the ceremony and stayed away for about half an hour.
I’ve probably photographed 5 or 6 weddings my entire career, usually for relatives or close friends as a wedding present. I shot Ian’s sister’s wedding a few years ago, so I was the photographer yesterday. Weddings are a lot of work and I’m not used to shooting things that I can’t control, so there’s a certain amount of stress. Ian’s got a single brother, Cason. I offered him $5000 to elope.
