Painter

Talk about coincidence. My wife and I went to an art gallery this weekend in Gordonsville (www.oldsomersetprintshop.com), which featured some beautiful work by a watercolorist named Gillie Cawthorne (www.gilliecawthorne.co.uk). So this morning driving to the hardware store to get some parts to repair a leaky faucet, I was thinking that it might be fun to learn to paint. Just as this popped into my head I rounded a curve and what should I see but this gentleman painting a landscape. Definitely a sign.

Bluebirds

It’s been an on again-off again spring. Two or three warm days followed by a couple of cold, wet days (see April 7th post). One sure sign that spring is here to stay is baby bluebirds. I start checking the bluebird boxes about mid April. These were in the box on the garden post, awaiting lunch from mom. When they realized I didn’t have a bug for them they went back to sleep.

Whiskey Glass

Last night while watching Seinfeld and finishing a scotch and soda I happened to glance through the bottom of the glass. I tossed the ice cubes (the scotch was finished) and replaced them with a lense.

White Horse

Horse farms are springing up all around us. I shot this white horse with a little plastic lense called a lens baby, basically a piece of plastic on the end of a rubber tube.

Happy Child

This is one happy child. Makes you remember what it was like to be a kid at the beach.

I met Steven our last day on the island when he offered me a handful of seaweed.

Gulls

gulls

Back to Florida. A little stale bread and it doesn’t take long to gather a mess of sea gulls. One thing I learned the hard way is that gulls have the ability to take it in one end and let it out the other at the same time.
