The Shennandoah, looking the other way.

The Shennandoah, looking the other way.

Another view of the Shennandoah from Riverfalls. The canoe is chained to the tree. Not sure whether it’s to keep it from walking away when noone’s around, or to keep it from washing away when the river floods. Probably a little of both.

Our neighbors have a cabin on the south fork of the Shennandoah River called Riverfalls. Every fall we borrow it for a week of doing nothng. This is the view early in the morning.

An abandoned motel on Route 1. Route 1 used to be the main north-south highway on the east coast. Then along came Interstate 95 and all the motels died.

Bucky has a new friend. The neighbors have added another mule. (see 11/14/06 “Cheap Shot”)

Here’s the whole family. It’s not a very good photograph, but a very cool family.

Another shot of the trainspotting family I met Monday, Caleb and his dad.
