Reenactor 2 – Lee

Lee

This was a spur of the moment idea and I didn’t have a lot of time to spend. When I got there reenactors were just beginning to arrive and set up their campsites. Apparently the generals like to arrive early since Lee, Jackson, Mosby and Custer were already there. You could tell they were the generals since they had the primo campsite in the back corner of the field and had the biggest SUVs.

Last year there was a gathering of Confederate reenactors called “Dixie Days” that caused a lot of controversy. I had just bought an old 4 x 5 speed graphic and thought it might be fun to do some quick portraits of the participants. I also took a digital camera along since my skills with a 4 x 5 were pretty rusty and were always questionable at best.

Nothing special…just a jet taking off. Maybe headed somewhere warm.

Scrabble Match

scrabble

I was having a cup of coffee today at Ashland Coffee and Tea and noticed a father and son engaged in a serious scrabble match. I could pretty much follow the course of the game by watching the son’s expression. Dad is yet to lose, but someday he will and when he does it’ll be a tossup who will be prouder.

Little House

I pass this house on my way to town everyday. I just like the way it sits on the hill, in a grove of trees, overlooking the pond.

Bloodhound 2

When I spotted this bloodhound I stopped the car in the middle of the road and started taking pictures. Every once in a while I’d check the rearview mirror to make sure I wasn’t going to get rear ended. He walked back and forth for a while, then climbed up on the fence and posed for me. Not sure what he was thinking. Maybe he just wanted a better view if I got creamed by a snow plow.
